2024-2025 Dress Code
You are Addressed According to How You Dress
All Sparrow Dance Productions students are required and expected to abide by the following dress requirements of each class and/or level. Failure to comply with the required appropriate dress code may result in disciplinary action determined by the owners of Sparrow Dance. When you look good, you feel good! We believe that maintaining the integrity of a proper dress code can, and will, only add to the overall caliber of our students’ dance and performance education.
Ballet Petite/Moderato: Pink leotards, pink no-shine tights, and pink ballet shoes. Drawstrings on Ballet slippers need to be tucked into the dancers’ shoes before entering class. Dance skirts and small tutus are permitted. Hair must be in a bun or for short hair, secured neatly off of the face.
Ballet I/II/III/IV: Black leotards, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Drawstrings on Ballet slippers need to be tucked into the dancers’ shoes before entering class. Dance skirts are permitted. Once dancers approach these levels, it is not standard for female dancers to wear undergarments underneath their leotards and tights. However, speak with your female instructor or Miss Christina if this presents an issue. Hair must be in a bun or for short hair, secured neatly off of the face.
Ballet Variations II/Partnering/Company Ballet: Same requirements as above. Any color leotard is permitted, pink OR black tights, and pink ballet shoes/pointe II shoes. Hair must be in a bun or for short hair, secured neatly off of the face.
Boys/Men Ballet Levels: White or Black T-shirts, black tights/tight dance pants, Dance belts are required to be worn by the older male dancers. Please speak with your male dance teacher or Mr. James for details/concerns. CLEAN black/white socks. Black Ballet shoes. Hair must be neatly combed and secured off of the face for long hair.
Tap/Jazz/Lyrical/Acro/Hip Hop/Break Dance ALL Levels: As a rule, no boobs, bellies or butts! Dancers may wear fitting clothing/leotards for any of these classes, Leggings/yoga/pants/dance pants, medium to fitted T-shirts are permitted. In the summer months shorts are permitted however NO booty shorts. If a dancer is wearing a leotard for any class, tights and/or pants are required. No little butt cheeks running around the studio please. Appropriate footwear is required. Class specific requirements may be instilled by instructors.
